picfor1000The 7th Annual 'A Picture is Worth a 1000 Words' Challenge: Hi, Roy!
So, It's Like This...
The challenge goes as follows: each participant is assigned a picture that will serve as the inspiration for a story (how you define "inspiration" is up to you). The catch is that each story must be exactly one thousand words in length, no more, no less - and trust me, it's not as easy as it sounds!
Everyone gets one picture to start. It's called a challenge for a reason, so you may need to get creative. Just remember: the picture itself need only serve as inspiration, not necessarily be a literal part of the story.
If the muse strikes, you may write more than one story based on your picture, but each must be a completely separate story of 1000 words. In other words, your entry/entries can be part of series only only if each story can stand on its own.
Once you have written at least one story for your first picture, you may request a second picture, but again, each picture should equal at least one free-standing story of exactly 1000 words.
Any fandom, pairing, rating or genre (including real person and original fic) is welcome!
Stories won't be due until February 28, 2009, which means two full months to write!

The Twist
Every year I add a theme to the challenge. This year, the theme is Roy G. Biv, the mnemonic for the sequence of hues in the visible spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Each participant will be assigned a picture that contains/focuses one of those colors.

Comment here no later than Tuesday, December 30, 2008 (or whenever I wake up the next morning). I will post picture assignments here in the comm on January 1, 2009 (meaning you'll probably want to friend the community, if you haven't already). After that, it's up to you!
