A Picture is Worth 1000 Words

I apologize for the late notice, but as you might have noticed, there is no picfor1000 challenge this year. I've been distracted with holiday/year-end stuff and work stress, and it just fell through the cracks for me.

I'm sorry to those of you who look forward to this challenge - thank you so much for your support over the years, and maybe we'll get back on track next year.

The 16th Annual 'A Picture is Worth a 1000 Words' Challenge: Just Desserts

So, It's Like This...

The challenge goes as follows: each participant is assigned a picture that will serve as the inspiration for a story (how you define "inspiration" is up to you). The catch is that each story must be exactly one thousand words in length, no more, no less - and trust me, it's not as easy as it sounds!

Everyone gets one picture to start. It's called a challenge for a reason, so you may need to get creative. Just remember: the picture itself need only serve as inspiration, not necessarily be a literal part of the story. 

Any fandom, pairing, rating, or genre (including real person and original fic) is welcome. Stories won't be due until February 28, 2018, which means gives you two full months to write!


The Twist

Every year I add a theme to the challenge. This is the 16th year for the challenge - our sweet sixteen, kids! And while I might be tempted to make you all write about college basketball or teenage coming-of-age parties, I decided that each photo will instead feature some sort of nummy treat!

Again, this need only serve as inspiration. Stories do not need to be explicitly about the photograph, and the subject or item does not necessarily need to even feature in your story. We're just trying to get the motor running. (I mean, hey, if you WANT to write about college basketball, no one can stop you!)
