....The light flickered again and then plunged us into full darkness. The lift ground to a halt with a bump. Leanne whimpered.
“It’s just a power surge,” I said. “It’ll come back on."
When it did, we gave smug but rather nervous laughs. Then Onion-Man spun around, his tone suddenly angry and frightened, his bulbous body twirling like a top in the mirrored reflections. “Where the hell is she?”
There was no sign of Pinch-Penny. We were between floors. The lift was stationary and the door still closed....
