It doesn't have a name as far as I know. It may have already been thought of but I made it up in response to the challenge.

The requirements of the challenge were that the fic must be 1,000 words, be inspired by a supplied picture, and involve the number three in some way. So my picture was three candles, yeah? So candles have all sorts of symbolic meanings but the main thread is that candles represent the soul - the fire of the soul, yeah? In Britain we have these paths called lych walks, which people walked along with candles carrying th dead. Um - the paths of the dead? It's s'posed to be lighting the soul's path to the afterlife. It's this whole rebirth thing with an arm and a box. :)

And then 3 crops up a lot throughout mythology, philosophy and mathematics. Pythagoras, the triangle dude, he called it the divine number: The beginning, the middle and the end - the trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost ;). The three Muses - practice, memory and song. The Wyrd Sisters - the three points of destiny. The body, mind and spirit; animal, vegetable and mineral.*g*

So the structure and subject seemed inevitable, given the picture and the challenge. Er... if you're me, that is. It had to end with Connor because he's the end, um, the one to go on, the rebirth. Shanshu! That's the word I'm looking for, I think.

But the mechanics of the three vignettes that weave together evenly to make a whole could very easily be adapted to any other set of three people. If you like, you can read the unthreaded version here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dodyskin/64671.html).
